Steve Magnante, a well-known figure in automotive journalism and a fixture at the Barrett Jackson auctions was facing health challenges. “Uncle Tony’s Garage” channel a close associate of Steve shed light on his health condition in a heartfelt YouTube video.

Rick Debruhl close friend of Steve Magnante also shared an update on his health. Debruhl disclosed that Magnante suffers from a brain infection called encephalitis which refers to brain inflammation a dangerous medical condition.

His medical staff is making every effort to assist him and his family has asked for privacy. There is still uncertainty regarding the infection’s severity and possible long-term repercussions. Below we shared a tweet related to his health:

Steve is not just an automotive journalist but also a TV host, drag racer, historian and car constructor. For around thirty years, Steve has created numerous cars and collaborated with numerous periodicals. Throughout his illustrious career in automotive journalism, Steve Magnante has made major contributions to the field.

Magnante is well-known in the automotive world thanks to his work in print magazines, his hosting of a TV show on Motor Trend and his popular YouTube channel. He is also renowned for his energy and skill as an announcer at the esteemed Barrett-Jackson auctions.

He has a devoted fan base thanks to his vast expertise and original content. In high school, he began studying actual automobiles and saw a lot of cars in parking lots. But his parents used to drive about in different economy vehicles and he didn’t have enough money to buy any of them.

Steve Magnante was raised by a graphic designer mother and an optical physicist father. In 1986, Steve Magnante received his degree from Clark University. He received a $10,000 inheritance from his grandma. He spent around three years driving a 1968 Hemi Charger R/T that had been partially refurbished.

To pay off his student loans, he sold the car for $16,000. He went on to work on other vehicles including the 1970 Barracuda 383 and the 1968 Dart GTS 340 convertible. Later on, Steve was employed at a nearby Sunoco station as a mechanic and gas pump jockey.

He traveled to California in 1992 and made $286 selling vintage auto mags at Veteran’s Stadium. After that, he started working as an associate editor at Chrysler Power magazine. He wrote on his behalf as well.

His career was further enhanced by his position as an associate editor at Hot Rod magazine. With prominent racers like Ronnie Sox, Richard Petty and Linda Vaughn, Magnant forged strong friendships. The biggest break for Steve Magnante occurred once he signed on to Speed TV. He works in his garage most of the time.
