Mohbad Death: When Did Mohbad Die? – Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, professionally known as MohBad, was a Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter born on June 8, 1996.
He hailed from Lagos, Nigeria, and initially gained recognition as an artist signed to Naira Marley’s “Marlian Records,” though he parted ways with the label in 2022. He was renowned for his hit tracks, including “Ponmo,” “Feel Good,” and “KPK (Ko Por Ke),” a collaboration with Rexxie, which earned three nominations at The Headies awards in 2022. MohBad was born in Lagos, Nigeria.
He released his debut album, titled “Light EP,” in late 2020, following the success of his viral song “Ponmo,” featuring Naira Marley and Lil Kesh. MohBad’s musical prowess earned him five nominations at The Beatz Awards in 2021. He was also recognized as one of Audiomack’s top 21 Afrobeat artists of 2021. In 2022, he dropped “Peace,” a track produced by Rexxie. His music climbed the TurnTable charts, reaching the top 50 in 2021 and the top 100 in 2022.
His first EP, “Light,” was released after he signed with Marlian Records World in 2019. This eight-track EP featured collaborations with Davido, Naira Marley, and Lil Kesh. Naira Marley served as the executive producer, and the EP showcased production contributions from SB, Rexxie, P.Beat, and Austin Sinister.
In February 2022, MohBad and Zinoleesky, along with four others, were arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for the possession of illegal substances such as MDMA and cannabis at their residence in Lekki, Lagos.
Videos circulated on social media, depicting NDLEA officers forcefully entering their home and conducting the arrest without search warrants. Witnesses reported mistreatment of the Marlian artists, including physical force and gunshots fired into the air. NDLEA confirmed the raid and the recovery of cannabis and molly. Later, MohBad, Zinoleesky, and four others were released.
In October 2022, he made headlines by accusing singer Naira Marley of domestic violence. He claimed that Naira Marley had ordered individuals to assault him when he confronted Marley about his decision to hire a different manager for his music and business affairs, marking the end of his association with Marlian Records.
A member of the singer’s team revealed that he visited the hospital during the early hours of Tuesday, September 12, 2023, seeking medical treatment. Following his hospitalization, he received an injection as part of his treatment regimen.
Tragically, the source reported that the musician lost consciousness shortly after receiving the injection and, devastatingly, did not regain consciousness.
