Charlie Daniels Wiki Biography

Charles Edward “Charlie” Daniels was born on the 28th October 1936, in Leland, North Carolina, USA, and is a rock musician – singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, who is probably best known by his No. 1 single entitled “The Devil Went Down To Georgia”. He is also recognized as the leader of his own band named The Charlie Daniels Band. He has been an active member of the music industry since the 1950s.

Have you ever wondered how rich is Charlie Daniels as of early 2016? According to sources, it is estimated that the overall size of Charlie’s net worth is equal to $20 million, with the main source of this amount of money being, of course, his career as a musician. He has also increased his net worth by collaborating with other famous musicians on the American scene.

Charlie Daniels was brought up in a middle class family by his father William Carlton Daniels, and his mother LaRue Hammonds. From an early age he learnt how to play various instruments, including violin, mandolin, guitar, etc. He attended Goldston High School, where he founded the band Misty Mountain Boys with some friends, which was short-lived, as he moved to another town after graduation in 1953.

Charlie began his career in the 1950s, continuing into the 1960s and 1970s collaborating with artists such as Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, and has also worked with The Youngbloods. He became a professional musician when he joined the instrumental rock’n’roll combo named the Jaguars. With the band he wrote the single “It Hurts Me”, which was recorded by Elvis Presley in 1963 and put on his album entitled “Kissin Cousins”. As of the early 1970s, the band fell apart, thus Charlie moved to Nashville and started a solo career as a session musician.

Charlie’s solo career began with the release of the album “Charlie Daniels”, but it failed to chart. Nevertheless, he continued making music, and two years later came his first hit single entitled “Uneasy Rider”, from the album “Honey In The Rock”, released the same year. Since then, his career has gone only upwards, and so has his overall net worth. Charlie has released over 40 albums in total, including “Fire On The Mountain” (1974), “Saddle Tramp” (1976), “Midnight Wind” (1977), “Fool Moon” (1980), “Windows” (1982), “Simple Man” (1989), By The Light Of The Moon” (1997), “Road Dogs” (2000), “Deuces” (2007), ”Hits Of The South” (2013), and his last studio release “Off The Grid: Doin`It Dylan” (2014), which have been the main source of his net worth.

Several of these albums went gold and platinum and some of them reached platinum certification three or four times, such as “Million Mile Reflection” (1979), “A Decade Of Hits” (1983), and “Super Hits” (1994).

Thanks to his successful career as a musician, Charlie has earned several prestigious awards, and recognitions, including the Grammy Award for Best Vocal Performance for his single “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”, and induction into the Grand Ole Opry in 2008. Furthermore, Charlie was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009.

When it comes to Charlie Daniels’ personal life, he has been married to Hazel since 1963; the couple has a son. In 2001 he was diagnosed with cancer, but fortunately he survived it. His current residence is in Mount Juliet, Tennessee.
