Albion Soccer Club Hawaii’s Girls 11 Academy team finished runner-up at the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships on Tuesday in Boise, Idaho.
Maui-based Albion, playing in the 12-team girls 12U division, went 2-1 in group play. Mylah Marfil scored the team’s lone goal in an opening 8-1 loss to Real Colorado on Friday, but Albion bounced back with a 3-1 win over Cook Inlet of Alaska on Saturday and a 2-0 win over Rio Rapids of New Mexico on Sunday.
Ke’ale Haake scored a goal in each of the wins. Reecie Kamake’eaina and Nevaeh-Ann Skaggs also scored against Alaska, while Reece Riecke had a goal against New Mexico.
In Monday’s semifinals, Haake and Kamalie Makanui scored to lift Albion past Washington Premier 2-1. Albion then fell to Real Colorado in the final, 6-0.
Other members of the Albion team are Kaira Rulloda, Steisha-lovie Kalani, Jairiss Keahi-Honokaupu, Carley Ann Ah Yen, Alana Egloff and Sachi Haban. Team coaches are Andrea Riecke, Chris Kamake’eaina and Charles Skaggs, and the team manager is Tamra Vasquez.
